Making Sense of the Senseless
My blogging, here, at the Valve, and at Cliopatria, has now created a historical conjuncture in which it has become possible for me to regard my own words printed on dead trees. I am as surprised as anyone else. But while you wait — breathless in anticipation — for the print version of the Chronicle of Higher Education to emerge into the world tomorrow, you may slake your impatience by drinking deep of the online version, which is to found and marveled at here.
It is called “Making Sense of Senseless Violence at Berkeley” and is an account of dealing with the responsibility to teach a class on reading and writing while the administration was teaching the students a lesson in what the police use of force can and cannot accomplish.
