No Condition is Permanent

Sarah Palin concerns me. So I’ve decided, out of the goodness of my heart, to pass along some nuggets of wisdom that the Republican party might consider adding to its party platform. There’s still time to make this right. So with no further ado, I give you this selection from No Condition is Permanent, the classic 1960’s era Onitsha pamphlet, with all sorts of timeless observations on this condition of modernity in which we find ourselves.
No comment, really!
Love Onishta, want to teach one day, along with Drum and True Love; popular African writing from the 50s and 60s. Guess I should start collecting what I can.
We started “No Condition” today in my class (it’s nicely brief), but I barely let them say anything about it, I was so busy tying to use our previous discussion of Sembene’s Black Girl to frame the weird misogyny of it. Hopefully we’ll be able to get something more out of tuesday (it’ll lead into Tutuola); all will depend on my being able to keep my mouth shut a bit more.
Also, everyone, you guys should be checking out Keguro’s latest. He’s always good, but the last three posts have really been marvelous. So ongeza!
